Mountaineer Off-Road Inc. Raises Money for Make-A-Wish

Mountaineer Off-Road and Rodney Loftis and Son Contracting held the second Crawl 4 Kids this past Saturday at the contractor's on Rt. 21 and Casdorph Road in Sissonville. Rodney II designed and built the wildly challenging course. Competitors raced to beat the clock while climbing boulders, negotiating steep hills and blasting through mud holes. Two classes of OHV (off highway vehicle) were in competition; those 36" tires and smaller, and those with 37" tires and larger. The prize for each was cash payouts of $500 for 1st place, $250 for 2nd, $125 for 3rd, $75 for 4th, and $50 for 5th ; all of which was donated by various area sponsors. Some of these were enhanced with parts or accessories for their OHV's.

Spectators paid a $5 admission and 100% of the amount collected is donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Charleston. Each admission got 2 raffle tickets for a chance to win prizes all day long. Prizes given away included many parts and accessories for 4wd vehicles such as a Warn winch and many other prizes; gift cards to local restaurants and auto parts stores, hats and t-shirts, and more. Concessions were provided by the Sissonville VFD and served as a much appreciated fund raiser for their needs as well.

Official Results

Officially there were 944 people counted in attendance. Adding in the Mountaineer Off-Road members and other staffers in attendance this number easily climbs above the 1000 mark. Cash raised from admission fees totaled $5066.75. $2000 was given out to competitors and a ton of raffle items made there way into the hands of the crowd.

Sponsorship was very generous and came in the form of cash donations and raffle prizes.

About Mountaineer Off-Road, Inc.:

Mountaineer Off Road Inc. is a family oriented group that is concentrating itself on the support of our wonderful sport. Issues such as trails, land use, important legislation, 4X4 tech, and just an old fashioned good time are our main priorities. We adhere to the Tread Lightly policy while strongly teaching and encouraging responsible outdoor recreation. We encourage 4-wheeling in a family friendly atmosphere. We welcome new members, beginners, and veterans that enjoy the sport of off-roading. We also support the United Four Wheel Drive Association, The Blue Ribbon Coalition, and Tread Lightly.

We have been doing charity events almost since the very formation of the club with our flagship event being the West Virginia Children's Charities Off-road Jamboree held every year during the July 4th holiday. Our most recent Jamboree resulted in complete sponsorship of six children through Secret Santa of WV and many more toys being donated to their cause as well. Please come visit us at www.mountaineeroffroad.com to learn more about the club, upcoming events, and membership possibilities.
